Important update from TheSchoolRun
For the past 13 years, TheSchoolRun has been run by a small team of mums working from home, dedicated to providing quality educational resources to primary school parents. Unfortunately, rising supplier costs and falling revenue have made it impossible for us to continue operating, and we’ve had to make the difficult decision to close. The good news: We’ve arranged for another educational provider to take over many of our resources. These will be hosted on a new portal, where the content will be updated and expanded to support your child’s learning.
What this means for subscribers:
- Your subscription is still active, and for now, you can keep using the website as normal — just log in with your usual details to access all our articles and resources*.
- In a few months, all resources will move to the new portal. You’ll continue to have access there until your subscription ends. We’ll send you full details nearer the time.
- As a thank you for your support, we’ll also be sending you 16 primary school eBooks (worth £108.84) to download and keep.
A few changes to be aware of:
- The Learning Journey weekly email has ended, but your child’s plan will still be updated on your dashboard each Monday. Just log in to see the recommended worksheets.
- The 11+ weekly emails have now ended. We sent you all the remaining emails in the series at the end of March — please check your inbox (and spam folder) if you haven’t seen them. You can also follow the full programme here: 11+ Learning Journey.
If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected]. Thank you for being part of our journey it’s been a privilege to support your family’s learning.
*If you need to reset your password, it will still work as usual. Please check your spam folder if the reset email doesn’t appear in your inbox.
2 times table quick quiz
Test your child's 2 times table knowledge with a quick five-minute quiz. Can they pick the correct starry answer?
When do children need to know the 2 times table?
In the UK, it's great for children to know their 2 times tables by the end of Year 2, which is when they're around 6-7 years old. The National Curriculum suggests that by the end of Key Stage 1 (covering Year 1 and Year 2), kids should be comfortable with the 2, 5, and 10 times tables.
This sets a strong foundation for their progress in maths as they move into Key Stage 2. Learning these basics early on can really help them feel confident and prepared for more advanced maths concepts later on.
How can you make the 2 times table fun?
Here are five fun ways to help children learn their times tables:
- Math games: Use interactive math games, quizzes and apps that make learning times tables a fun challenge.
- Songs and rhymes: Create catchy songs or rhymes to help memorise the times tables.
- Flashcards: Play flashcard games where kids can earn points or rewards for correct answers.
- Times table bingo: Organise a times table bingo game where kids match multiplication facts to the numbers called out.
- Outdoor activities: Incorporate physical activity by having children hop, skip, or jump while reciting their times tables.
How will this 2 times table game help your primary school child?
This teacher-created speed game will help your child practise the 2 times table in a way that will embed their learning and build their confidence. This is a quick-fire quiz that can be timed at their pace, getting faster every time they redo the activity, or you can set a 2-minute timer and see how many they get right in that set time frame.
