Reading scales and solving problems
How does yout child learn to read scales in KS2?
In Key Stage 2 (KS2), children begin to learn about scales as part of their maths education.
To help children grasp the concept of scales, teachers often start with simple activities, such as counting on number lines with equal intervals.
As children progress, they learn to read more complex scales, such as linear scales for measuring length using rulers or measuring tapes. They also learn to interpret scales on bar graphs to understand quantities represented by each bar.
Through hands-on activities and real-life examples, children practise estimating and reading measurements, laying the foundation for further understanding and problem-solving skills.
